Does God Perform Miracles today.

In our experience God does not answer all our prayers. I guess I should rephrase that and say His answer is sometimes, ”no.” We don’t always know why and it can be frustrating to try and figure it out. But there are other times when we definitely see His hand in our lives.

My husband and I bought a small parcel of land in Northern BC a few years ago and are attempting to homestead.

The land we bought was raw undeveloped land. It had to be cleared of trees and we needed a well drilled.

We were informed that the normal depth of wells in our area was around 340 feet deep. Being limited on funds we had the money for one shot at finding water.

The digging crew showed up and started drilling. We knew it would take a couple of days. On the second day we came to the property to see how it was going.

The foreman came to us and said, “We’ve hit lots of water, but it’s unusable because it is too silty. The silt is too fine to filter out.”

We were in shock. How could this be? We need water to function on this property. At our age, hauling water was not an option.

The foreman said they would try going down a little deeper and he walked away.

We had to pay for the drilling whether or not we had good water. We were looking at $20,000 wasted if the well was unusable. So, my husband and I stood behind our car and prayed.

Not even ten minutes later the foreman came back to us excited. He said they had gone down one more foot and the water was clear. My husband and I looked at each other and knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that God had answered our prayer.

We watched as gallons and gallons of clear water gushed out of the ground.

If everything had gone smoothly and good clear water was found without any issues that would have been great, but because of this we knew that God was showing us that He is with us.

Whenever we encounter a difficulty, we always say, “remember the well”.

There have been many other little personal miracles along the way as we have established our little homestead but the well was the most striking.

We have kept a journal of all the miracles in our lives since we moved to our acreage. I wish I had done it sooner. It is good to look over it once in a while to remind ourselves, especially when going through a difficult time, that God is there.
